Munster Express, Page S 7, 17-Oct-2008 €13,500 for local GAA Clubs and schools Waterford fans who are also Gaelic Telecom customers raised €13,500 for grassroots games in the county between January and June of this year. Waterford earned 9% of the total Munster payout. Over the past four years, the GAA and Deise fans have earned a total of €53,423 for the Association locally with €3.4m raised nationally over that period. The innovative but simple scheme (www.gaelictelecom.ie) sees 15% of call costs being donated back to customers’ preferred club or school, while at the same time saving them money on their home phone and Broadband bills. All 32 County Boards support the scheme, which sees 2,500 Clubs around the country receive cheques from Gaelic Telecom twice a year. Michael Murphy, Passage Secretary said: “It’s a great way of raising funds which helps with the day to day running of the Club. Once the initial effort is put in it looks after itself. We’d like to thank all those who supported our Club this way.” |
