Kildare Post, Page 6, 08-Oct-2008 AA fans raise over €20,000 GAA fans have raised €20,366 for Grassroots GAA in the county between January and June of this year. The innovative but simple scheme sees 15% of call costs being donated back to customers’ preferred club or school, while at the same time saving them money on their home phone and Broadband bills. Kildare increased the amount it raised by 7% over the previous six months and earned 11% of the total Leinster payout. Over the past four years, the GAA and Kildare fans have earned a total of €97,759 for the local Association. Brendan Ryan, Runai of Sarsfields said “With so me redevelopment of our grounds going on at the moment, this cheque couldn’t come at a better time. The other thing we’re hoping to do is put up proper lights on the training ground. We’d like to say that none of this would have happened without some of our members switching to Gaelic Telecom.” All 32 County Boards support the scheme, which sees 2,500 Clubs around the country receive cheques from Gaelic Telecom twice a year and nationally €3.4 million raised for Grassroots GAA over the past four years. |
