GAA fans boost clubs by picking up the phone

GAA clubs in Kerry are benefitting financially every time their supporters and members pick up the phone. Last year, customers of Gaelic Telecom in Kerry raised over €55,120 for their local clubs and schools.
At a ceremony in Croke Park last week, GAA president Nickey Brennan thanked those who have signed up for the Gaelic Telecom which also benefits local Cumann na mBunscoil primary schools.

The initiative sees 15% of phone call costs being donatted to clubs and schools designated by the telephone customer.

One such club in Kerry to benefit from the scheme is Dr. Crokes club in Killarney. The Gaelic Telecom scheme netted the club over €3,500 in 2007.

Breda Cronin of Dr. Crokes said the Gaelic Telecom initiative is a very simple way for fans to raise money for their local club.

"Through working with Gaelic Telecom the club received in excess of €3,500 in the past twelve months. This was a great boost for the everyday running of our club," she said.

Breda recommended that every supporter and club member in Kerry should sign up with Gaelic Telecom.
"Gaelic Telecom does all the work so it is easy for the club to benefit. This initiative is an excellent opportunity for both the club and supporter and we recommend everyone to get involved."
